CATHOLIC YOUTH IN KUWAIT PREPARES FOR WYD 2011

The Catholic youth of Kuwait gives fire again to their commitment to the planning stage for World Youth Days (WYD) 2011 in Madrid Spain. During the previous WYD 2008 in Sydney there were 47 youth joined that pilgrimage and enjoyed God’s blessings during that special youth pilgrimage.

Nearly 60 youth registrants came forward to the Cathedral Parish for their first meeting with Fr. Ben Barrameda last December 6, 2010. Fr. Barrameda is the current Holy Family Cathedral Parish Youth Director addressed the registrants to give their full commitment into the planning stage, WYD events and post activities in the local Church of Kuwait. He has given them in-puts about involvement in the parish, keep the faith and to take care for each other as the youth being the future of the Church and of the society.

The group is now divided into 3 major groups. The HR, Spiritual and the Cultural and each with a  leader to follow them. These groups will be in-charge of various activities during the preparations. The youth leader is Zelito Cardozo with Blossom as Secretary and Glorence, the treasurer.

The registration is still open for other youth ages from 18-35 years. The priest-in-charge is still looking forward to increase the number to a hundred or more.

Next meeting will be on January 17th, 2011 because majority will be going for holidays in their country of origin.

The registration is approximately KD 300 .000 (Kuwaiti Dinars). KD 75.000 has to be given soon to Madrid for the official registration of the Kuwait youth group. The said approximate amount excludes the expenses in the Days in the Diocese (DID) in Bayonne, France having a free yout to Lourdes as told by the organizer.

We require the following: 1) Registration fee, 2) Copy of the valid passport and civil ID, 3) New issue baptismal certificate, 4) Attendance to regular meetings every 1st and 3rd Mondays at 730 pm – 9 pm in the Cathedral, 5) Unmarried and Young married but only one party) and 6) Involvement in the youth or other church ministries.

Fr. Ben also gave his gratitude to His Lordship Camillo Ballin, the Bishop of the Catholic Church in Kuwait and his fellow youth directors in other parishes. Father Lionel Braganza is over-all youth director assigned in St. Therese Parish run by the Salestians in Salmiya Kuwait, Fr. Ben in the City, Fr. George in St. Daniel Comboni, Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Kuwait and Fr. Harry in the Our Lady of Arabia in Ahmadi Kuwait.

All are excited to journey as youngsters to France for the Days in the Diocese on August 8-10, 2011 and to the main WYD events in Madrid Spain on August 11-21, 2011.

More youth activities to come! Keep firm in the faith!
